About Bakereeve
Bakereeve has been a go-to spot for home bakers and cooks since I started sharing my kitchen creations. With plenty of tested recipes, step-by-step guidance, and honest tips, it is where food lovers come each month to build confidence in the kitchen. Whether you are just getting started with simple weeknight dinners or refining your skills with rich chocolate desserts, I am here to help you get it right every time.
Our Story
I am Clara Cartwright. I started Bakereeve after years of personal experimentation in my home kitchen in Los Angeles. What began as a personal passion for crafting the perfect homemade treats soon grew into a deep love for visual storytelling and a mission to teach others not just what to cook, but how to cook it beautifully.

My one-woman show in the kitchen is supported by a very dedicated household team including my husband, Mark (my Chief Taste Tester who eats everything and supports my chaos), and our small dog, Mochi (who waits patiently for crumbs). I also lean heavily on the culinary wisdom of my mom and grandmother, who first taught me how to bake traditional holiday cakes. We work really, really hard and have a lot of fun in the process.
What We Are Known For
At Bakereeve, our motto is: Every recipe tells a story. We believe that cooking should be a creative outlet, an act of love, and most importantly, fun. What sets our recipes apart?
- Meticulously tested recipes (if Mark grabs seconds immediately, it is a winner).
- Clear step-by-step instructions that translate complex baking terms into beginner-friendly language.
- A special artistic touch, heavily featuring my absolute favorite ingredient: premium dark chocolate.
- Balancing tradition and creativity, so you get both comforting classics and beautiful, aesthetic treats.
- Visually engaging top-down photography so you can see exactly how the recipe comes together, step-by-step.
You will find recipes for everything from quick breakfast ideas and savory dinners to our famous show-stopping desserts.
Did Clara Go To Culinary School?
No, I am completely self-taught. My journey was a thoughtful and personal progression from studying at the University of Southern California (USC) to finding my true calling in the kitchen. While I did spend some time working in a hotel designing and presenting custom birthday desserts, everything you love about this space is rooted in my core belief: you do not need a culinary degree to make a killer dessert or dinner. This approach is rooted in a commitment to making this space as welcoming and easy as possible for everyone.
In The Kitchen
Bakereeve recipes are inspired by the real world, heavily featuring nostalgic family recipes, flavors inspired by my travels (especially Italian, French, and Japanese cuisines), and dishes that balance natural, healthy ingredients with a touch of artistic indulgence. My kitchen is my sanctuary, a place where I can turn on my KitchenAid stand mixer, listen to classical American music, and find true therapy in baking.
